Albrecht Building & Remodeling is a family-owned and -operated construction firm that provides exceptional services to clients in the Minneapolis Metro Area. Both homeowners and business owners have been entrusting their construction projects to us since we opened in 2002 because of our great work.
Albrecht Building & Remodeling, previously known as River Valley Homes of Elk River, was established in 2002 by Jay Albrecht and Bert Horton as a step out of the retail lumber business into the home building and construction industry. At that time they specialized in new-home construction. Bert retired from River Valley Homes in 2006 and Jay and Sandy became the sole owners.
A New Chapter
Over time, we have developed into a multi-layered contractor, one that services residential new-home construction and remodeling with kitchens and baths being our specialty, along with our expansion into the commercial space.
We have amazing subcontractors and are usually referred by our previous clients. Our founder, Jay, has now given the mantle to his son, Jeff, who is involved in every project from start to finish. This new era of our company is a continuation of our long-held values: serving our clients to the best of our ability, a dedication to the highest quality in our work, and a commitment to faith & family.
Meet the Team
Jeff Albrecht
Owner - Operator
With over 20 years experience in the field and his engineering background, Jeff has learned the importance of good communication with clients while on the job. He takes great pride in his work and is a perfectionist. He’s more than a carpenter, he’s a craftsman and his work shows it. His experience spans the gamut of residential remodeling, additions, custom homebuilding and miscellaneous cabinet and furniture projects, to large scale commercial projects.
While pursuing his engineering degree at NDSU in Fargo, he formed his own construction company in North Dakota and a few years later joined his dad's business Albrecht Building & Remodeling in Elk River. He has since taken over as owner-operator and is ambitious to grow it both in size and dedication to providing quality, local craftsmanship.
In his spare time Jeff is passionate about going hunting for big bucks and spending time with his family.
Joel Nelson
Sales & Estimating
Hi, my name is Joel, and I wear many hats. For my day job, I love doing sales with Albrecht Building and Remodeling. In my spare time, I raise Golden Retrievers, hunt, fish, and love spending time with my family. As a guy who spent years in the non-profit sector, I enjoy meeting new people.

Jay Albrecht
Founder & Sales
Jay Albrecht originally founded Albrecht Building & Remodeling with his business partner, Bert Horton, in 2002. Known for his humble manner, Jay is passionate about giving people his best by building relationships. He does everything he can to make sure he delivers the end product just the way the customer envisioned it from the beginning.
Jay takes pride in being honest and working with integrity. He has built Albrecht Building & Remodeling from the ground up, assembling a team of craftsmen that want to create the finest home or remodel and has been involved personally with every project. White he has handed the reigns of the company over to his son Jeff, Jay continues assisting with sales, building meaningful relationships with customers and team members, and providing advisory input from time to time.
During his free time, Jay is passionate about hunting and fishing, and spending time with his wife and family.
Curtis Ferrin
General Manager
Curtis became general manager full-time in January of 2025 after starting as a landscaper and property manager during his college summers and later acting as an administrative assistant.
In his spare time, he loves a good Lord of the Rings movie marathon, enjoys time with his family and friends, and runs a side freelancing marketing business (which included building this website!).
Out of everything in life, the most important thing to Curtis is his faith in Jesus, and he hopes to see others find real freedom in Christ because of the change he has seen in his own life.
